A new paper analyses a massive dataset to learn how people use ChatGPT. TL;DR: non-work use dominates and is growing fastest; female users and emerging markets are leading the surge.
Another paper looks at which economic tasks are performed with AI, with data from millions of Claude conversations. Turns out half the use is in programming and writing, although a third of occupations now use AI for more than 25% of their work.
