One of the great things about digital qual is that it is more accessible than in-person research.

It can be difficult for people with accessibility needs, such as those with physical disabilities or neurodiversity, to travel to a focus group facility, for example, and take part in a discussion with a room full of strangers. And this means that their voices are less likely to be heard.

Moving research online – as we have seen during the pandemic – makes it instantly more accessible. People can take part from their homes, using their own digital equipment, and supported by their carers if necessary.

But, if you are going to be truly inclusive of people with accessibility needs, just going digital isn’t enough. There are actions you can take at every step of the research process to ensure that your participants are having the best possible experience – which will lead to you getting the best possible results from the research.
